CELLO BAG BASICS

What are cello bags?

Cello bags are clear presentation bags used to cover and display items such as prints, greeting cards and photographs. At CelloBag, our bags are made from 40 micron OPP film and close with a peel-and-seal flap.

KNOW THE PRODUCT

Three parts worth understanding

MATERIAL

The clear film

OPP means oriented polypropylene. The film lets the contents remain visible, so the print, card or photograph stays the focus.

FIT

The usable internal space

These are the width and length available for your item. Include the envelope, mount or backing board in your measurements, not just the printed piece.

CLOSURE

The self-seal flap

Insert the item, peel away the release strip, fold the flap and press to seal. The flap is additional to the usable internal dimensions.

CHOOSE BY USE

What are you packing?

The same type of clear bag can serve different purposes. Start with the item, then check the measurements rather than relying on its name alone.

PRINTS

Art prints & artwork

Compare A3, A4, A5 and 5×7 options for print presentation. Mounted work must be measured using the outer mount, including its thickness.

CARDS

Greeting cards & invitations

Measure the card and its envelope together. The envelope can be the largest part of the set, and a thick card or several inserts can need extra room.

PHOTOS

Photographs & small pieces

Choose a bag around the finished photo and any backing card. Compact formats can have very little clearance, so compare the actual millimetres.

PRESENTATION & PROTECTION

Use the right protection for the job

For everyday presentation

A clear bag helps keep dust, fingerprints and everyday surface marks away from your work. It can hold a card and envelope together or keep a print neatly covered before it is packed for an order.

For posting and specialist storage

The bag is flexible, not rigid protection against bending or impact. Use suitable outer packaging for dispatch. Do not infer archival, food-contact or other specialist suitability from the word “cello” or from a thickness figure.

Does “cello” mean real cellophane?

Not necessarily. Sellers use the name for more than one type of clear bag. Our material is OPP, not cellulose cellophane. Read the material comparison before comparing environmental or specialist-use claims.
